'Happy Days' Craft Classes  

This is a list of provisional craft classes currently scheduled from May 2011, with more dates continuously being added. Please remember that we are constantly updating our lists, repeating & adding more classes, so please check our list regularly for any changes and additional classes. In addition to this, please inform us of any particular courses you would like to take part in, and we will notify you of the next available date. For further information on any of the classes listed, please telephone or email us.

 

Workshops run from 10am til 4pm and cost only £20 per day. Our classes are small and friendly, with a maximum of 8 students per class (6 where a sewing machine is required.)

Roman Blind Workshop £40 - 

Flora Cerrino  

Complete workshop, covering how to calculate fabric requirements, size/number of folds, Cut fabric squarely, making rod pockets in lining, attach lining/Velcro (without stitching visible), use appropriate stitches, cord up blind onto a blind track kit. Learning this skill can save you hundreds of pounds in the future! During this course you will make a sample blind, to use as a reference point for future projects. Own machine required.  All fabrics supplied. Maximum 4 students. £40 each.

 Ever wanted to make your own curtains but not wanted to risk ruining expensive fabric if you tried? – This one-day course will teach you how to produce beautiful curtains for any room, even if you are an absolute beginner and a bit frightened of a sewing machine!  During this course you will make a sampler curtain, to use as a reference point for any future projects. Sewing machine required. All fabrics supplied. £40 per person (maximum 4 people).

Start sewing – A Sampler Cushion - Karen Odinga

Create a technique –packed sampler cushion designed to make friends with your sewing machine. Seams, decorative stitching, appliqué, free machine embroidery and placing a zip will be covered. Practice these sewing fundamentals while making a unique decorative item. This workshop is structured for the novice in mind. Your machine really wants to get to know you!

Beady Edges, Fringes and Embroidery – Karen Odinga 

Use combinations of beads, sequins and stitches to create beaded fringes and edges to embellish your textile or sewing project. Using just a few basic stitches, sew beads and sequins onto cloth so that they stay on!! We will also have a few tips on how to summon up inspiration and creating a design from various sources. The practice project will be small pincushions that are not only useful but are your ‘samplers’ for future reference.  A demo for a twisted beady rope will also be given. We will not have time to make the rope but the demo plus patterns will be provided.

As well as individual bookings we are able to accommodate private groups and are always happy to discuss requirements and available dates.

Our workshops are all currently priced at £ 20.00 per day and run from 10am - 4pm.   Classes are filled on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, and in view of this, we must ask for your class fee upon booking to secure your place. Bookings can be made in person, by phone or by post (please enclose booking form). Please make cheques payable to ‘And Sew On Fabrics’. Unfortunately we are unable to refund class fees unless the class is cancelled by ourselves. Please note, upon booking, you will be provided with a list of requirements that you will need to bring with you to the class, unless otherwise specified.
